now it's someone else's turn to enjoy her. to remind you, in case you have forgotten, epiphany was launched in october 2006 having been built by colecraft and fitted out by bath narrowboats . i am grateful to my friend richard for the photos below but read on for more details . . . currently epiphany is moored at garstang marina on the lancaster canal where the mooring fee is about £462 per quarter. i understand that the mooring is transferable, subject to the marina owners' approval, and that living aboard may be possible, at a slightly increased fee. here's a view over the marina: as i said, the coachwork has just been stripped down to bare meal and repainted, the blacking having been done in may 2017 - as well as a very positive out of the water survey. this website will give you plenty of detail - here's my original plan. click on it to see it in more detail. you may like to see pictures and the story of the build . let's just have a quick walkthrough (all the pictures can be enlarged in a new tab/window by clicking on them): from the stern you will see she is a trad-style colecraft narrowboat and you'll observe that we have 4 solar panels - excellent for keeping the 5 domestic and 1 engine starter 12v batteries topped up, particularly in the summer. there's a shore power socket here, as well as at the bows. under the stern deck there is access to the weedhatch, stern greaser and starter battery - and the engine space, under the stern steps, which lift off. opening the steel stern doors, mind your head as you go through the large hatch and down the steps, but once inside there is plenty of headroom - epiphany was built with me in mind - i'm 6' 5" tall. it was also designed with disabilty in mind - a wheelchair can go from stern cabin to saloon. on your right is the morse throttle control for the engine and, inside the electrics cupboard below, the victron energy multi plus 2500 inverter/charger, the travel power 230v generator's controller and the galvanic isolator. under the steps is the barrus shire 45hp diesel engine, which has been regularly serviced to the manufacturer's recommendations. opposite is the wet locker for storing waterproofs etc.. we recently had wooden hand rails fitted, at stern and bows, which make getting in and out easy. on either side there are single bunks, with cupboard space below. there is also a cupboard above the starboard (rh) bunk. the battery monitor is alongside the webasto diesel heating controller, and the 12v switches with cut-outs, (seen below) are above the solar controller. through the bulkhead door is the bathroom, with thetford cassette toilet and webasto-heated towel rail. note there are lots of mirrors which help to lighten the interior and give a sense of roominess. on the left is a roomy airing cupboard over the calorifier and then the spaceous shower with bi-fold door. on the right is the washbasin, with cupboards above and below. interior ceiling lighting is by energy-efficient leds. beyond the shower, there is a washing machine under a drawer and hanging space for drying your smalls. as with all the portholes, there are bungs to block out the light. through the next door we come into the bedroom: the bedroom can be configured in different ways - with a single bunk on your right (which we used as a day bed) or a double/twin cross-bed. this lifts out of the way to the left, during the day. there are two wardrobes and two chests of drawers, on either side of the double bed, and a dressing table with an illuminated mirror: under the latter is the cupboard giving access to the thetford cassette and storage for the two spares. there are also storage cupboards above the bed and under the foot of the double. extra storage is under the head of the bed. there are curtains in addition to the porthole bungs. webasto-heated finrads provide supplementary heating here and in the saloon..... through the next door we enter the galley and saloon: the galley has a fully fitted out kitchen, with slide-out larder, 240v freezer, 12v fridge, four ring gas hob, gas oven, microwave and sink with draining board. there are plenty of drawers and cupboards - remember, it was designed so we could holiday or live aboard - and we enjoyed both! the saloon has a multi-fuel morso sqirrel stove and, opposite, a cupboard with a slide-out shelf for the computer printer. there are book-shelves on both sides, a freeview box and tv and a folding table. swan doors on both sides are double glazed. both portholes in the saloon have curtains in addition to the porthole bungs. there are also wooden shutters for the front steel doors, as seen above. the bow area has a folding table, which doubles as a window shutter storage boxes double as seats (cushions provided) and/or steps. the anchor is stored here and there are two hoses and a trolley. on one side is the water-filler for the stainless steel water tank, on the other the shorepower socket and bt socket (we had broadband at one mooring but not here -
